Why do we expect teachers to be able to do online without support or training them? Would you like your pilot or your plumber sent in without training??? Image courtesy of digitalart at FreeDigitalPhotos.net

Resources not matching the assessments Lack of consistency within the school across teachers / subjects / faculties No internet access – means no access to resources or assignments Have to use library and other school resources but these may not be available when you want to access them around class and work or public transport When not well laid out or labelled it is too difficult to find so important to have good naming protocols Not good to read online so still need to print it out and this costs money for the student

Tracking in the course …..imagine

Simulations for science Notes thoughts discussions all gathered together very helpful Moodle more organised than other forms of LMS they have used Know what your assessments are Know the expected dates Readily available extra resources If away sick easier to catch up and access Folders of paper handouts can be messy and heavy More sustainable If teacher are away the student isn’t missing class time, you know what to do next

Use of Moodle calendar and due dates very helpful Can access from anywhere or on any device Work protected so teacher cannot loose it Turnit in plugin sends a receipt Confirmation emails etc for grades, marking and submissions are fantastic
