Credible Resources 1998 Master Settlement Agreement (MSA) Tobacco Control and Prevention Attorneys general of 46 states and the four largest U.S. tobacco companies settled lawsuits against the tobacco industry for recovery of their tobacco- related healthcare costs. Tobacco companies agreed to cease certain marketing practices.
