JOHANNES GUTENBERG The man who made the printing press and mass-produced books.

WHO?  Johannes Gutenberg (Yoh-hah-nes Goo-tan-berg) was born around 1398. His exact date of birth is not known. His early life is shrouded in mystery. We believe early in his life he was involve in goldsmithing. He died on February 3, 1468, of a Heart attack.

WHAT?  Johannes Gutenberg invented the printing press, not Benjamin Franklin, contrary to common knowledge. He also,( and this is why I choose this man.) first mass-produced books.

WHERE?  Johannes Gutenberg invented the printing press in Strasbourg, Germany.

WHY?  The reason people needed the printing press is they didn’t have that many books, because they were so time-consuming to make. So, since most people didn’t have books, most people weren’t very educated. Also, by inventing the printing press, he was able to mass-produce the bible!

WHEN?  It is not known when Johannes Gutenberg invented the printing press, but he reveled it to the public in 1440.

HOW?  Gutenberg's technique for printing remains unknown, however we know that first, a mold of a letter was made, and was rammed into the soft, heated metal, creating the an outline of the letter. Then, after the outline cooled and hardened, it was done many more times with the other letters. Finnaly, the paper was put under, the letters wanted pushed down, the letters were inked, and the letters were rammed onto the paper.
