7. BOY Writing Sample A writing sample should not be words that students copied from the board. Rather, it should be a true reflection of the student’s ability to correctly form letters, spell, and construct written thoughts.

A third-grade student who scores at or above the 40 th percentile on the Fall, Winter, or Spring STAR Benchmark has satisfied the requirements of the Reading Sufficiency Act for promotion to fourth grade. 8 Parent Notification of Qualification for RSA Promotion A letter will be provided at September conferences for parents whose students who qualify.
