4 The Rhine is one of the longest and most important rivers in Europe. It runs for over 1,232 km (766 miles) from its source in the in the Swiss Alps.

5 The River Thames is Great Britan’s second longest river. It replaced the earlier suspension bridge built by William Tierney Clarke in 1827 (at a cost of £85,000), which has the honour of being the first suspension bridge built in London.
