Empowers you… Through Coaching

What is COACHING?  Coaching is a thought-provoking and creative process that successful business people use to help them pursue their passions and strengths. A coaching relationship is designed based on the client’s interests and goals. Discussion, questions and requests are used to assist the client as he or she reflects, identifies goals, develops strategies to reach them, takes action and adapts to challenges along the way.  A coach might brainstorm with you or make observations based on his expertise. While a coach may have expertise in a particular area, the primary focus of a coach is to help the client make her own choices and find what will work best for her.

What is COACHING? (Con’t.)  Research has demonstrated that the relationship-based skillful listening and questions provided by trained coaches through professional coaching leads to reflection and new learning and successful application of the learning in clients daily lives.  Coaching is not psychotherapy or counseling which deal with past events and how they relate to your thoughts and feelings in the present. While professional coaching does pay attention to your feelings, coaching focuses on the present and future, and is oriented towards the client applying learning to their business and life in order to move forward in practical ways.

What is Consulting?  A consultant is an adviser or expert who gives advice based on expertise in a specific area. The main difference between a coach and a consultant is the focus. A consultant recommends certain actions and may also teach clients certain skills.  In short, a consultant brings expertise in a specific area. A professional coach brings expertise in helping people connect with their own innate wisdom to define and achieve the goals they have set for themselves.

Main Difference Between Consulting and Coaching? While consulting sharply focuses on one specific issue, coaching takes a holistic view, and allows you to explore how all the different parts of your life and work are connected and affect each other. Whether coaching or consulting or a blend of them is best for you depends on your needs and values, as well the complexity of the situation and your time constraints.

How Does the Coaching Process Work?

 Coaching is for people who are basically well-adjusted, emotionally healthy, functioning effectively, and wanting to make changes in their lives.  Coaching is designed to address issues the person being coached would like to consider. These could include (but are not limited to) to career development, relationship enhancement, spiritual growth, lifestyle management, life balance, decision making, movement through transitions and/or the achievement of short-term or long term goals.

 Coaching is a professional-client relationship with a design to facilitate the creation/development of personal, professional or business goals, and to develop as well as carry out a strategy/plan for achieving those goals.  Coaching may involve brainstorming, values clarification, the completion of written assignments, education, goal setting, identifying plans of action, accountability, making requests, agreements to change behavior, examining lifestyles, and questioning.

The Client is exclusively responsible to make the final decision on how to handle these goals, incorporate coaching into those goals, and implement these goals.

A free introduction session is provided to determine if the coaching relationship is a good match for both the Client and the Coach.

Most clients have sessions every two weeks with unlimited email support between sessions during the agreed-upon term.

After each session, the Coach will e-mail a short Review Form for the Client to complete and e-mail back within 24 hours after the session. This form will reiterate the Client's action plan and capture the most significant “take-ways” from the session. Before the next session, the Coach will e-mail a short Focus Form for the Client to complete and e-mail back at least 12 hours prior to the session.

Coaching is an on-going relationship that may take a number of months, although either party can terminate at any time. Some or all of the coaching may be through telephone, Skype, or personal meets dependent on the location of the Client and availability of the Coach. The where and how is determined between the Coach and the Client.
