2 Telescope  In 1608, Hans Lippershey finds out that if you hold two lenses up at some distance apart it brings things closer  He then makes the first telescope  Galileo then makes some of his own telescopes  He then uses them to study the stars  After Galileo, many other people make improvements to the Telescope

3 Microscope  Z Z Z Zaccharias Janssen invented the “Light Microscope” AAAAnton van Leeuwenhoek also invented a “Light Microscope” HHHHe used it to observe water MMMMany people such as Robert Hooke and Charles Spencer made improvements Leeuwenhoek’s Microscope TTTThe microscope helped people to study tiny organisms and make further advances in biology

4 Barometer  Invented by Torricelli  Didn’t discover it’s use  Blaise Pascal discovered that the Mercury level rose and fell with air pressure level  Robert Boyle changed the shape of the Barometer and gave it its name

5 Thermometer  The first thermometers were called thermoscopes  Many different scientists invented different kinds  A man named Santorio Santorio was the first person to put numbers on a thermometer  Galileo invented a water thermometer that allowed temperature to be measured  Gabriel Fahrenheit was the person who built the modern day thermometer  He built the Fahrenheit scale of temperature measurment (Anders Celsius built the Celsius scale)
