11 Agenda Session 1 Challenge: Create a work of art using self- portraiture and expressive text. Objectives: Create two self-portraits using just words and text that describe two opposite emotions. Sketch out lightly two portraits while looking in a mirror. Theme: Transformation Key Concepts: Choice of words, tone, and meaning Materials: Sketchbook, dictionary and thesaurus, drawing paper, pencil, eraser, and pen. Oil pastel or colored pencil in one color may be used to express emotion further Time Allotment: Three class periods

12 Agenda Session 2 Challenge: Create a work of art using self-portraiture and expressive text. Objectives: Once drawn out, the portraits may be filled in with the necessary values and textures using only text. Theme: Transformation Key Concepts: Choice of words, tone, and meaning Materials: Sketchbook, dictionary and thesaurus, drawing paper, pencil, eraser, and pen. Oil pastel or colored pencil in one color may be used to express emotion further Time Allotment: Three class periods

Objectives: Once completed, both images will be matted together to prepare for display and a class critique.
