24 Learning Targets: Students will learn about Chuck Close and learn how he has become a successful portrait artist. Students will get their picture taken to use for their self-portrait and apply the grid method to accurately scale the proportions of their picture. Using graphite, students will render shading and blending to create a likeness or expressive self-portrait. Finally, students will revise their artwork based on teacher and peer feedback expressed throughout the duration of project and during the STMA critique process. I know how to use and respect materials in art. I understand why artists have continued to make self-portraits throughout history I know how to use and apply a grid method for drawing I can create a likeness or expressive self-portrait with graphite I can revise my artwork based on feedback during a self-critique/ Individual critique/ Group Critique
