2 EAB Campaign #1 Borderline Criteria: 2 nd Semester Freshmen Advisees 2.0-2.49 Previous Term GPA 15 Advisees met criteria Motivational Campaign: Emailed students TOP TEN TIPS TO ACADEMIC SUCCESS and GPA calculation example for possibility to raise GPA to 3.0 on February 5 th, 2015

3 Campaign Example First Semester C (3 credit hours) First Semester Total = 15 hour with 2.0 GPA Second Semester A (3 credit hours) Second Semester Total = 15 hours with 4.0 GPA First Semester GPA + Second Semester GPA = 3.0 Cumulative GPA (You may utilize a GPA calculator to help determine your possible GPA outcomes at the end of the semester at http://registrar.uncc.edu/gpa- calculator ) http://registrar.uncc.edu/gpa- calculator

4 EAB Campaign #1 GOALS/RESULTS Advisees Avoid Academic Probation: 12/15 achieved Raise Previous Term GPA: 8/15 achieved Raise GPA above to 2.5 or above: 5/15 achieved Raise GPA to 3.0 or above: 2/15 achieved

5 SUGGESTIONS Review schedules for students to recommend adjustments prior to the start of Spring 2015 semester to determine rigorous coursework or grade replacement recommendations Send email out earlier in the semester for Academic Tips when classes are just beginning Send basic early advising email to have more time for these student before peak advising via Starfish to determine who is reading Consider calling students that have unread marked in Starfish Check Mid-Term Grades for these students for additional intervention

6 EAB Campaign #2 PROBATION Criteria Advisees on Academic Probation below 2.0 GPA 22 Advisees met criteria Motivational/Intervention Campaign: Emailed students TOP TEN TIPS TO ACADEMIC SUCCESS and recommend they make early appointment with me at the time well before withdrawal date and pre-registration week on February 5 th, 2015

7 EAB Campaign #2 GOALS/RESULTS Read my first original starfish message to schedule appointment: 15/22 achieved Those who have read first appointment email schedule an appointment with me within two week after reading: 2/15 achieved The ones who made appointment with me within two weeks after email were successful in coming off probation: 0/2 achieved The ones who made appointment with me within two week after email were successful in avoiding suspension: ½ achieved Read majority of my messages: 19/22 achieved Made an advising appointment with me (12/22) and total that made advising appointment including alternate advisor include additional 3 = 15/22 achieved Those that had advising appointment avoided suspension: 8/15 achieved Made an appointment with me at least by the end of registration week. (11/12 that did make appointment): 11/22 achieved Made an appointment with me at least prior to last day of Withdrawal (5/12 that did make appointment): 5/22 achieved Made an appointment with me at least two week prior to pre-registration week (5/12 that did make appointment): 5/22 achieved 10 Avoided Academic Suspension: 11/22 achieved Back in Good Academic Standing: 6/22 achieved

9 SUGGESTIONS Review schedules for students to recommend adjustments prior to the start of Spring 2015 semester to determine rigorous coursework or grade replacement recommendations Send email out earlier in the semester for Academic Tips when classes are just beginning Since majority are reading the messages, include specific workshops they can attend Ex: UCAE or additional resources they should consider during the semester for additional support Make phone calls to the students that are not regularly reading the messages prior to W date to determine if they are going to class and review 4 th week Starfish flags Check Mid-Term grades for these students
