Reading report Group 5

The Adventure of Tom Sawyer In the novel, Tom Sawyer with Huck Finn leads a typical American-style life with innocence and happiness. In order to get rid of the usual life and the control of contemporary moral values, Tom and Huck make chances for adventures and have fun in realizing their dream with naughtiness and heroic justice to eradicate evil. I think that every young person used to have the dream of travelling around the world and trying to find the treasure, but most of them just hold it as a dream, not take it into action. Morefree

David Copperfield The story traces the life of David Copperfield from childhood to maturity. Many elements of the novel follow events in Dickens' own life, and it is probably the most autobiographical of his novels. He is a positive, sincere and upright young man. Relying on his endurance and strong will, he goes all out to pursue his dream through thick and thin. He finally succeeds and lives happily with those he loves. I think the most attractive thing of this book is that no matter how different his fate is, David will never be defeated. His truth, kindness and courage encourage me very much. Lacey

See by Chai Jing The book mainly talks about some events Chai Jing has ever investigated. They may not be very significant events, but each of them touched the author and inspired her to think deeper. Something I got from the book: Never make any judgements in a hurry. Everyone is special and the stories behind them are worth of being known. To tolerate is the most important thing we need to learn. Sometimes there is no need for us to feel emotional, all we need may be just to know. Melody

The Kite Runner In my opinion, the book prints two pictures for us. First one is a broad picture which tells us the cruelty of race discrimination and the evil of war. The second picture is Amir’s salvation to his friendship or fault he made when he was a child for his coward to some extend. The story is set against a backdrop of the chaotic events, from the fall of Afghanistan’s monarchy through the Soviet military, the leaving of refugees to Pakistan and the U.S., and the rise of the Taliban regime. 6 100 Pieces of Advice for Teachers What impresses me most is the 6 th advice, “How to Treat the Slower Students”. Last semester I took a tutoring job and actually met a slower student who always come last in the exam. She has to spend much more time to remember things than her classmates do. Sukhomlinsky said the most effective way is to let them read instead of just remember. Bring them interesting material to let them think so as to train their brain. If they keep thinking, they will find more problems and gradually be sensitive to what they learn. Cherry

Calm life is not lonely It tells us simplicity is the essence of life while most people go for a wonderful and colorful life. Calm is an attitude not only in face of setbacks but also facing temptation. Desire and lust of human are endless so we have to learn to control our emotion. Emerald
