4 Goal(s) Philosophy Students will develop transferable employability skills Students will gain valuable exposure to their career field of interest Students will apply skills they have learned from connecting classes Participation in WBL is a privilege that comes with responsibility Students are “Rising Professionals” Students should use the WBL experience to help guide future career decisions WBL

5 Handbook Highlights Attendance – Students may not report to work if they don’t come to school! Follow School Rules – leave campus at release time & don’t return to campus (unless permission is given by Mrs. Parker or an administrator) WBL students are not allowed special treatment if they are assigned ISS or OSS – they will have to serve the full punishment. Students’ work sites MUST be approved by Mrs. Parker

6 Handbook Highlights Students my only change jobs once per year (very few special circumstances do exists) Students MUST give a 2 week notice before leaving a placement If a student is fired they will receive an “F” for that 9 week grading period.

7 Important Program Requirements Hours on work-site must equal the number of hours student would spend in the class room.  1 release period = 7.5 hrs./wk.  2 release periods = 15 hrs./wk. Students have assignments in addition to working  Assignments are submitted electronically – via Edmodo  Hours, check stubs (pd. employees only), Hours & Wage Forms & evaluations will be turned in “hard copy” format Students must maintain a portfolio  Portfolio will be the Final Exam for this class  It counts as 20% of Final Grade

8 Procedures Students must sign-out each day in room 314.  They may sign-out at any time during the day, EVERY day  They may not sign-out days in advance  They may not sign-out for anyone else Students must keep their portfolios up-to-date & organized Students must keep up with their time sheets Assignments can be found on the class website  They are due on the 5 th day of the next month  Ex. August assignments are due Sept. 5 th  Exception: December & May assignments will be due prior to the end of the month
