Africa Challenges Africa is a diverse continent of 54 countries, over 1,000 languages, and 797 million people. It is the 2 nd most populated continent (after Asia). Africa is rich with natural resources, but still suffers from the effects of European Imperialism. Many countries’ boundaries were formed without regard to existing cultural groups’ boundaries, and divisive civil wars have resulted in several countries.

Africa Challenges Your group will rotate through stations Each station will have information about a one of a few challenges facing Africa AND a piece of butcher paper You will complete the task at each station before you are asked to rotate

Round 2 Read the FIVE facts the previous group wrote on the picture Now add the following to the poster: What is the problem? Why has it occurred? What may happen as a result?

Round 3 Read the poster so far, refer to the document and add: How is this problem being solved? If the article doesn’t propose a solution, what do you think should be done?

Round 4 Review the poster so far, review the document. Then… How can you convince Americans to take this challenge seriously? (Could the average American help? How so?)

Round 5 You will add visuals/pictures to represent the materials at your current station

Round 6 You will read the poster at your current location Each group member will be ready to present that information to the class
