Parties centered around one man Reform Party- Began as a vehicle for Ross Perot to seek the Presidency in 1996, he ran as an independent in 1992. The same party no longer exists in that form. Jesse Ventura was their nominee for Minnesota Governor in 1998.

What about Independents There is not an active, formal independent party. If you want to be registered as an independent in Ohio, you must say so at a Primary election and your ballot will not have any candidates on it, just issues. Those who are registered and do not show up to vote in a primary are registered as undeclared.
