In ancient times (prehistory), people used triangular shapes to represent human bodies. These forms appeared in petroglyphs (rock carvings) at Buffalo Eddy at Snake River, in paintings from Warli Paintings from India, and in carvings and paintings of the American Plains Indians. Triangles in art are used for stability (mainly in architecture), as a simple shape, and to arouse interest in something (especially paintings, sketches, sculptures, etc.) Triangles are used to stabilize objects, to draw attention to something, and often as a simpler alternative to a circular or roundish shape.
