2 Common Good City Farm Vermiculture I have Eisenia Hortensis or in Europe, Dendrobena Veneta What they need in my experience -Water (not wet or soaking) -Carbon (bedding, newspaper) -Nitrogen (leaves/veggies) -Oxygen (air) -Soil -A safe, dark place (aerated bin) -Around 60-100°F (I have kept them ~25-110° F)

6 Soil + food waste + worms + newspaper = worm mix Common Good City Farm

7 Finished worm castings Common Good City Farm

8 Step 1. Compost soil and food waste (may need to add water) Common Good City Farm

9 Step 2. Add shredded paper to aerated bin Common Good City Farm

10 Step 3. Add food waste to aerated bin Common Good City Farm

11 Step 4. Add sifted aged “worm mix” to aerated bin Common Good City Farm

12 Step 5….. Repeat and top with paper and water Common Good City Farm

13 Step 3a. Sifting aged “worm mix” Common Good City Farm

14 Step 3b. Worm castings! Common Good City Farm

15 Common Good City Farm Summary -Accommodates about 5 lbs of food waste per week -Good for a household -Usable worm castings in about 3 months -Only needs small amount of space (indoors or outdoors)
