2 Going for Goals: Theme Overview The theme focuses on the key domain of self motivation with a subsidiary focus on self awareness. It offers the children the opportunity to: Become self motivated Become more self aware Become aware of their ability and their strengths Belief in what they do makes a difference

3 Theme Overview The theme is structured around: Taking responsibility Persistence and delayed gratification Resilience Setting and achieving goals

4 Some intended learning outcomes: Red Set:I can set a target for myself I know that we are all good at different things Blue Set:I can use my thinking brain to come up with lots of different ideas for things to do when there is a problem I can usually stop my feeling brain from taking over! Yellow Set:I can manage frustration by using a number of strategies I am able to take responsibility when I should (blame/credit) Green Set:I can teach someone else to do something that I can do already I know what some of the people in my class like or admire about me

5 Assembly Overview The assembly starts the focus for Going for Goals and culminates in a follow up assembly at the end of theme focusing on what goals the children have set and how they worked to meet them. The assembly focuses on knowing what you would like to achieve and how to set out to achieve them. The assembly is interactive and requires all the pupils to have some involvement. The assembly also requires quiet reflection time so that the children can think about a goal they want to achieve.

6 Follow up assembly Each year group will present to the rest of the children an element of the Going for Goals and SEBs skills they have focused on over the duration of the theme. The assembly should allow the children time to reflect on each others achievements and focus on the positive outcomes and achievements that each year group has made. For older year groups the assembly can focus on famous people and their achievements.

7 Round Up! At the end of Theme 4 Going for Goals pupils will be able to: In Key Stage 1 set simple goals In Key Stage 2 have a sense of self worth by identifying the positive aspects of themselves Identify mistakes and make amendments Make responsible choices and take action to face new challenges
