The Electronic Learning Plan Training August, 2011

Top Ten Reasons to Use the New and Improved Electronic Learning Plan

#10: It is a State Mandate.

#9: It’s easy to use! No more sorting through 10+ years of learning plan formats.

#8: It is emailed to employers, who can complete the evaluation whenever it is convenient for them.

It may be returned to you electronically – No more long afternoons revisiting the same sites to pick up the Learning Plan. #7:

It requires the coordinator to enter repeated information only once. #6:

It uses a drop-down feature for the evaluation scores and some of the competencies. #5:

Do you really want to create a new learning plan for every job title? #4:

Think of the number of trees we will save. #3:

Setting up an Electronic Learning Plan Fill in the information at the top of the Learning Plan.

Second Page of the Learning Plan The information that you completed on the front of the Learning Plan will automatically copy to the top of the second page of the Learning Plan.

Second Page of the Learning Plan

Setting up an Electronic Learning Plan Next to each competency on the front of the evaluation form is a box for each quarter. The box is labeled N/A, but has a pull-down menu, revealing a rating from 5(high) to 1(low).

Scoring the Competencies

Completing the Learning Plan Each student must have a Learning Plan that includes Academic, Employability, and Technical competencies.

The Learning Plan The first four competencies of the learning plan are to be completed using a drop-down menu. Two are Academic competencies and two are Employability competencies.

First Four Competencies

Remaining Competencies On the CTECRD wiki you will find a bank of Learning Plans organized by the ten Maryland Career Clusters. LP 2012 Bank

Additional Competencies There is space for the coordinator to add additional competencies if desired.

Personalizing the Competencies Coordinators should review each “stock” plan to be sure it fits the individual student for whom it will be used. Competencies can be revised, deleted, or added to meet individual student needs.

Employer Comments Employers may type comments in the space provided.

Employer’s Signature The employer’s typewritten name in the highlighted area serves as an official signature when the evaluation is returned electronically.

Saving the Learning Plan After you create the plan for each student, save it to your computer with a title that makes sense for you. NOTE: The plans will take up a bit of memory in your email. As you receive the completed plans from employers, you will want to save them to your computer and delete them from your email.

Introducing the Learning Plan to the Employer A sample letter introducing the electronic evaluation form to a student’s supervisor is posted on the CTECRD wiki.

The STC Workshop Team hopes that you will find the new Learning Plan useful and a real time-saver. Please let us know if you have any questions or comments.
