9 Programme Music There were Close links between art, literature and music lead to programme music. Music often told a story and this was full of expression, dynamics and emotions…key to Romantic Music. Music was often based on paintings or stories.

11 Important Concepts Strophic: Verse – chorus – verse
Through Composed: Where the music is different throughout the piece and there is little or no repetition.

12 Important Concepts Dissonance: A chord where the notes clash.
Cross Rhythms: Term used to describe the effect of two notes being played against three (e.g. in piano music it might be groups of two quavers in the right hand and groups of triplets in the left hand).
