Instructions For Registration Online Course Submission: Semester I

Step 1: Logging on the SIS Log-in to the SIS with Email Username and Password Under Student Menu: Click Registration Are you Pre-registered? Approved Sophomore Music Majors ~ Will be registered into Music 211/213 courses. American Conversations Program ~ Will be registered into AMCON 201. Asian Conversation Program ~ Will be registered into ASIAN 210 Great Conversation Program ~ Will be registered into GCON 217 Science Conversation Program ~ Will be registered into SCICN 213 Departmental Pre-registrations ~ Click Add A Schedule to see your pre-registration listed as a required course in the first course slot. https://www.stolaf.edu/sis/login.cfm

Step 2: Choose Potential Classes Click on the Class/Lab Inquiry Tool Choose appropriate course(s) and click ADD for each. Repeat adding all possible courses. At this point you may choose to have a course graded or not. Courses with multiple sections: If there are multiple sections of a course ADD ALL SECTIONS to your potential course list. Courses with lab/discussion : All appropriate lab/discussion sections for that course section will automatically appear in your pool when you add the course to it. DO NOT STOP AT THIS POINT!!! If you only create a pool of courses without making schedules you WILL NOT be registered.

Step 3: Making Schedules Click “Add a New Schedule” Select your Course Selection(s) for that schedule Click “Save and Validate Schedule” Click “Return to Schedule List” Interim Submissions: Choose one course per schedule for interim submission. (1.0 Credits) Semester II Submissions: Each schedule should include all of your courses for the semester. Step 4: Add Alternate Schedules Repeat Step 4 to Add Alternate Course Schedules –Order your schedules according to priority. –Submitting one schedule only will most likely result in your not adding a full schedule. –The SIS likes lots of different course schedule options!!! –Tip: List multiple course choices starting with your first choice. (Listing the same first choice class and not getting in will cause the rest of the schedules with that course as a first option to to not be added as well. Also courses with labs; enter multiple copies of the same schedule with different labs choices.) –Tools Change Section Order: (arrows) Copy: (2 sheets of paper) Edit (paper and pencil) Delete

Step 5: Tracking The Tracking Tool: –The “pick table” shows results as if registration were run right now. Tracking tool will be activated after students begin submitting section choices. The tracking tool updates often. Gives you a sense of how popular your section choices are and your randomly assigned ranking (which determines the order of students during registration). Tracking Tool Results do NOT guarantee the results shown!!! Check back periodically while registration period is open Modify order and Add more section selections as more students submit their schedules. ** ** Even if the tracking tool suggested that you might get into a class, be SURE to keep alternative schedules in your list of schedules; including alternative first-choice courses!
