5  Breaking down the job into duties and tasks, determining the knowledge, skills, and attitudes (KSA) that job performers must have.  Procedure: 1. Define the position title 2. Identify all job-related duties 3. Identify all tasks 4. Create a task hierarchy by listing all superordinate tasks with their subordinate tasks.

6  Tasks have a definite beginning and end.  Tasks are of short duration.  A task can be observed.  Tasks are independent of other actions.  Tasks start with a verb or highly specific action.
