1. Krakatau
In the year 1883 the Krakatau volcano exploded causing huge tsunami’s and it’s force is remembered by everybody involved to this day.

2. The division
In August 1883 pressure built up inside Krakatau volcano and caused it to erupt and the force divided the island into three smaller ones named Rakata, Sertung, and Panjang.

3. 120 Ft. High Waves The force from the island collapsing and
the explosion were a
deadly combination
causing waves as high
as 120 Ft. that killed
around 37,000 people.

4. Tsunami’s Power
Another aspect of the Tsunami’s caused by this occurrence the distance that the waves traveled great distances. The waves were recorded b tide gauges as far away as Hawaii.

5. Pyroclastic Debris
Although most of the deaths from this volcano’s eruption happened by drowning about 10% or 4,500 fatalities were caused by falling pyroclastic debris. Pyroclastic flows are very hot and can stay at this temperature while they flow through the ocean to other areas.

6. The pyroclastic debris’ aren’t only in the water but, also in the air.
