4 Club cell reflection On Friday, each of you acted out a part of the cell. You are going to reflect on how all of the different cell organelles worked together to help the cell function. Be sure to talk about the following: Your job/what you acted out The interactions you had with other organelles How you worked together What would happen if you couldn’t do your job THIS IS LIKE THE LAST PART IF YOUR SKIT 30 minutes

5 Intro to protists These are described as a diverse group of eukaryotic organisms. Since their eukaryotic, their DNA or genetic material is enclosed in a membrane. Protists live in almost any environment that contains liquid water.

6 What makes protists special? Some protists are able to photosynthesize, meaning they make their own food. In order to do so they must have chloroplasts. Other protists act more like animal cells and have to get their nutrients from other sources.

7 Types we will be learning about Ameoba- an animal like protist Paramecium-an animal like protists Volvox- plant like protists. It is also multi-cellular. Euglena- plant like protist.

9 Warm Up 1/31/12 1. Why is your respiratory system important for cellular respiration? 2. Pick a disease we have studied. What system does it affect? How does it affect the body’s ability to maintain homeostasis. 3. Describe how the endocrine system and nervous system are similar. How are they different? 4. Make one connection between the immune and circulatory system.

11 Microscopes Today we will be completing an activity that utilizes microscopes. You are not allowed to horseplay in a science lab. YOU CANNOT PLAY AND BREAK MY MICROSCOPES!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now, I will teach you how to use them

12 Stations You will either be at a reading station or microscope station. As always, be on your best behavior or receive an alternate assignment
