2 This WebQuest is designed to introduce you to the three types of volcanoes. You will learn about their composition, shape, and the landforms created by them. IntroductionIntroduction Task Process Evaluation Credits Teacher PageTaskProcessEvaluationCreditsTeacher Page

3 Congratulations on receiving your degree in volcanology! You have just been hired by the International Association of Volcanology and Chemistry of the Earth's Interior (IAVCEI). Your first assignment is to choose a specific volcano and conduct research about its activity status, type, and history. After conducting your research, you will be responsible for presenting the data to your fellow volcanologists. You will also display a model and demonstrate a virtual eruption. 4 First, your group needs to choose a volcano from the list below. Then, create a Powerpoint or design a poster to present your information to the class. Finally, make a model of your volcano and demonstrate the eruption using the website below. 7 This WebQuest was designed for sixth graders to research and present information about volcanoes. It explores the three different types of volcanoes. This project is also meant to promote cooperative learning and teamwork. GLE’s: 1. 5.2.A6: Describe how the Earth’s surface and surface materials can change abruptly through the activity of floods, rock/mudslides, or volcanoes. 2. 5.2.B6: Identify events (earthquakes, volcanic eruptions) and the landforms created by them on the Earth’s surface that occur at different plate boundaries.
