International Nuclear Forum "BULGARIAN NUCLEAR ENERGY - NATIONAL, REGIONAL AND WORLD ENERGY SAFETY “, Varna, 2-4 June 2011 PARTNERS MAINT COMPANY LTD 3  Brennilis reactor is an experimental reactor moderated with heavy water and cooled with carbon dioxide (HWGCR). The reactor was to have a power of 70 MW.  The startup occurred in 1967.  In 1985 the reactor was decommissioned.

International Nuclear Forum "BULGARIAN NUCLEAR ENERGY - NATIONAL, REGIONAL AND WORLD ENERGY SAFETY “, Varna, 2-4 June 2011 PARTNERS MAINT COMPANY LTD 4 Brennilis marks the first dismantling of a complete nuclear power station in France. EDF and CEA announced intention to make a transparent process so that it can be used as a model for dismantling of other plants later. The process is divided into 3 phases: Phase 1 This phase was launched in 1985, similar to a refueling outage the fuel is moved to the spent fuel pool, but new fuel is not loaded, and the fuel on site is evacuated. Phase 2 Phase 2 started in 1997, consisting of: decontamination and disassembling of the buildings except for the reactor itself. evacuation of the nuclear waste. In 2005 phase 2 officially finished. Phase 3 Phase 3 which is currently underway, consist of: dismantling of the heat exchangers. dismantling of the Reactor pressure vessel (RPV) – ONET TECHNOLOGIES leader of consortium ONET TECHNOLOGIES/NUKEM TECHNOLOGIES. demolition of the containment (Reactor building).

International Nuclear Forum "BULGARIAN NUCLEAR ENERGY - NATIONAL, REGIONAL AND WORLD ENERGY SAFETY “, Varna, 2-4 June 2011 PARTNERS MAINT COMPANY LTD 5 The equipment is designed for operation in a chamber for treatment of radioactive waste (CDI) and will be installed in place in the Brennilis nuclear power plant in France. The equipment will perform specific operations and is designed to comply with the requirements of individual technical specifications prepared by consortium GМЕ (ONET TECHNOLOGIES/NUKEM TECHNOLOGIES).

International Nuclear Forum "BULGARIAN NUCLEAR ENERGY - NATIONAL, REGIONAL AND WORLD ENERGY SAFETY “, Varna, 2-4 June 2011 PARTNERS MAINT COMPANY LTD 6 The scope of work assigned to PMC by ONET TECHNOLOGIES is the executive studies, manufacturing, factory acceptance tests and delivery on site for following equipment: Elevator; “Renard” trolley; 5m 3 trolley; Characterization trolley; Hoisting devices and rack; Sorting table.

International Nuclear Forum "BULGARIAN NUCLEAR ENERGY - NATIONAL, REGIONAL AND WORLD ENERGY SAFETY “, Varna, 2-4 June 2011 PARTNERS MAINT COMPANY LTD 7 The main designing requirements are the following: Several types of packages (weight and dimensions); Interface with civil construction; Low speed for all movements; Operations in remote control; Maintenance of equipment; Life time of equipments; Operation in radioactive environment; High accuracy of positioning; Equipment to be designed in accordance with Machinery directive 2006/42 and FEM.1.001.

International Nuclear Forum "BULGARIAN NUCLEAR ENERGY - NATIONAL, REGIONAL AND WORLD ENERGY SAFETY “, Varna, 2-4 June 2011 PARTNERS MAINT COMPANY LTD 8 Lack of sufficient input data for the civil construction – considering the specific conditions due to the place of operation and considering the specific technological processes due to the functions of the whole system for treatment of radioactive waste it is necessary to modify and change the use of some areas of the reactor building. Difficulties with limited space – the tight equipment overall dimensions are predetermined by the limited space assumed for operation execution and incorporation of the systems in the design.

International Nuclear Forum "BULGARIAN NUCLEAR ENERGY - NATIONAL, REGIONAL AND WORLD ENERGY SAFETY “, Varna, 2-4 June 2011 PARTNERS MAINT COMPANY LTD 9 High dose rate – operation in environment with high ionizing radiation, protection of the equipment, endurance to frequent decontamination treatment, structure designed form units which are convenient for maintenance.
