4 TROPOSPHERE TROPO – TURNING AND CHANGING LAYER IN WHICH WE LIVE RAIN, SNOW, AND CLOUDS ARE FOUND IN THIS LAYER LOWEST LAYER CONTAINS 90% OF THE ATMOSPHERE’S TOTAL MASS

5 STRATOSPHERE STRATO MEANS LAYER THE GASES DO NOT MIX IT CONTAINS THE OZONE LAYER

6 MESOSPHERE MESO MEANS MIDDLE THE MIDDLE LAYER THE COLDEST LAYER

7 THERMOSPHERE THERM MEANS HEAT UPPERMOST LAYER IT IS NAMED FOR ITS HIGH TEMPERATURES IONOSPHERE AN AREA LOCATED IN THE UPPER MESOPHERE AND LOWER THERMOSPHERE THIS PART OF THE ATOMOSPHERE CONTAINS IONS IONS ARE ELECTRICALLY CHARGED PARTICLES

10 Order the Atmosphere’s Layers! If you sit by someone in your row, you make work with them quietly. Take the paperclip off your stack. Find “Earth’s Surface” and place it at the bottom of your desk Then find “Outer Space” and place it at the top of your desk. Order the layers of the atmosphere, from the closest to the Earth’s surface, to the closest to outer space. Then, match the definitions of the layers with the layers you have ordered! When you are finished, quietly raise your hand!
