2  According to GreenReportCard.org, sustainability means meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their owns needs. GreenReportCard.org

3  A nonprofit organization engaged in research and education to advance sustainability in campus operations and endowment practices.  The GreenReportCard.org website and the College Sustainability Report Card are both initiatives of the institute.

4  The institute has developed relationships and joint projects with many organizations.  Partners Energy Action, Washington, D.C. Foundation for Civic Leadership, Cambridge, Massachusetts Of Balance Design, Cambridge, Massachusetts Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors, New York, New York United Nations Foundation, Washington, D.C.

6  The College Sustainability Report Card is designed to identify colleges and universities that are leaders in sustainability.  The aim is to provide accessible information for schools to learn from each other’s experiences and establish more effective sustainability practices.

7  The College Sustainability Report Card 2011 evaluates and grades environmental sustainability efforts at 322 schools in the United States and Canada.evaluates and grades  Four surveys were designed to gather information about sustainability in:  Campus Operations  Dining Services  Endowment Investment Practices  Student Activities  Surveys are sent to administrators and students at every institution.  A school’s overall grade is calculated from the grades received in nine equally weighed categories  The Overall College Sustainability Leaders award is given to schools who earn an overall grade of A or higher

9  The Sustainable Endowments Institute has announced that it is suspending publication of the College Sustainability Report Card in order to channel its efforts into helping decision-makers utilize green revolving funds. Sustainability at the University of Florida Sustainability NIRSA Outstanding Sports Facilities Award Executive SummaryExecutive Summary  In the 2011 College Sustainability Report Card, Florida State University had the worst overall grade out of all Florida universities. The 2011 Report Card evaluated five other universities in Florida and they are compared HERE.HERE

10  The expansion of the Southwest Recreation Center at the University of Florida is the first complete Low Impact Development design on the campus. (Completed in August 2010) UF was a grade higher than the previous year in the 2011 Green Report Card. Also ranked highest in Florida with the grade of B+, along with the University of South Florida and Rollins College. One of nine universities that were awarded the 2012 NIRSA Outstanding Sports Facilities Award. According to Green Report Card survey data, the University of Florida has:survey data  Pledged to reduce greenhouse gas emissions 17 percent below 2005 levels by 2020 and 83 percent below by 2050.  Organic dining services and dishware made of recycled or biodegradable content.  Decreased water consumption on campus by 24 percent since 2005 despite an increase in student population
