Fall Line Above the Fall Line  Rivers are shallow and rocky= no shipping  Cities above the Fall Line get drinking water from rivers/lakes—surface water Below the Fall Line  Rivers= deep and wide= shipping  Two inland port cities=Columbus (Chattahoochee) and Bainbridge (Flint)  Cities below get Drinking water from Aquifers—ground water

Kaolin is a white clayey rock that is predominantly composed of khandite minerals. Kaolin is one of Georgia's largest natural resources More than 8 million metric tons of kaolin are mined from Georgia each year, with an estimated value of more than $1 billion. Kaolin in Georgia is generally found in a northeast to southwest band of deposits extending from Augusta to Macon to Columbus. This belt parallels the fall line, which marks the boundary between the Piedmont and the Coastal Plain.AugustaMaconColumbusfall lineCoastal Plain Kaolin is most commonly used in the paper-coating industry. It is also used as a filler (added to plastics, for example, and rubber compounds), as a pigment additive in paints, in ceramics (tile, chinaware, and bathroom toilets and sinks), and in pharmaceuticals. Georgia is by far the leading clay-producing state in America and is recognized as a world leader in the mining, production, processing, and application of kaolin products. Natural Resources

Georgia has almost eight million acres of farmland classified as "prime, "which may be defined as available land that is best suited for producing food or fiber. That is, Georgia has the soil quality, growing season, and moisture supply necessary to produce sustained yields of crops. Much of Georgia, over 60% is heavily forested with pine, and the state is the leading state east of the Mississippi in the production of lumber (logs and boards) and pulpwood Georgia is by far the leading clay-producing state in America and is recognized as a world leader in the mining, production, processing, and application of kaolin products. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, more than 8 million metric tons of kaolin are mined from Georgia each year, with an estimated value of more than $1 billion. Georgia is also famous for its fine marble. Georgia has 70,150 miles of streams and rivers, over 425,000 acres of lakes, and over 4,500,000 acres of freshwater wetlands. Georgia's abundant water supplies provide drinking water; recreational areas ideal for swimming, fishing and boating; and water for generating hydroelectric power.

Temperature: Relatively Mild b/c it’s located near the equator & the Atlantic coastline Results: GA has 4 distinct seasons Benefits: 1.Industries prefer milder climates 2.Longer growing seasons for a variety of crops

Precipitation (rain, hail, sleet, & snow) is vital to Ga’s economy. Snow, melts & runs off into streams & lakes. Rainfall aids the growth of crops & forests. On average yearly GA gets 40 to 52 inches of rain in central & southern regions & 65 to 76 inches in the northern mountains.Precipitation (rain, hail, sleet, & snow) is vital to Ga’s economy.
