3. When writing an abbreviation…  Remember abbreviations begin with a capital letter  Abbreviations end with a period  Usually abbreviations are 2, 3 or 4 letters

4. When writing someone’s name and title…  Capitalize the persons first and last name.  Capitalize the title (Dr. Mr. Mrs. Capt. or Lt.)  Write a period after the abbreviation.

5. Let’s try one… I like to visit my friend on Berry Street. another way of writing it is I like to visit my friend on Berry St. St. is the abbreviation for street

6. Another example…  Mister King hurt his knee while playing on Tuesday, June 4. another way to write it is Mr. King hurt his knee while playing on Tues., June 4. Mr. is the abbreviation for mister and Tues. is the abbreviation for Tuesday.

8. Writing a sentence using a title with a person’s full name…  On August 17, Mr. Robert Green drove down Lime Road.  Both the first and last names are capitalized  The title is capitalized and end with a period
