6 Youth Protection Neglect Emotional Abuse Physical Abuse Sexual Abuse  Listen  Resist disbelief  Do not promise secrecy  Determine steps to be taken  Report If you suspect abuse, report it to the Camp Director or Scout Executive immediately!!.

7 Walk Around Leader Responsibilities Responsible to Camp Director The Den leaders for Twilight Camp shall be persons 18 years of age or older of well-known good character and have the ability to supervise 4-8 Cub Scouts during the day camp experience. Be knowledgeable about the Cub Scout and/or Webelos program Assist and supervise the boys in the Den –Supervise Den housekeeping, sanitation, camper health and safety –Ensure the buddy system is in effect at all times –Boys must check in and out with Den Leaders Encourage and motive boys Lead your Den to each rotation and help the station leaders Be prepared to help each Cub Scout with his project or sport Have spare time activities for those who finish fast Understand and know how to address medical and medication issues Reports to: Qualifications: Responsibilities:

8 Safety & Security Youth Protection Buddy System at all times Check in/Check out procedures –No shows –Late check in/early check out No unauthorized persons Emergency plans –Extreme weather –Fire –Unauthorized person –Missing boy Trained Staff –Range, Health, Camp Staff Den Leader is critical link!! 1.Wear (close toed) shoes at all times. Athletic shoes are acceptable. Sandals are prohibited. 2.No running (except in organized games); stay out of un-staffed program areas. 3.Do not allow Scouts to throw rocks, sticks or other objects. 4.Report any safety or maintenance problems to John Quereto, Camp Director, or to the Camp Registration table. 11 Preparation for Camp 1.Absolutely No Open Toe Shoes for boys or adults. 2.No siblings allowed on property during camp operating hours. 3.Bring your sack dinner nightly. We will eat from 4:30-5:00 4.Bring a filled water container nightly, with your name on it. 5.We will follow the buddy system at all times in camp. 6.All participants, boys and adults, need to be either in BSA uniform or camp issued shirt at all times 7.Do not drop off boys before 4:15; wait at your den sign for your leader. 8.Follow all parking lot attendants’ instructions. 9.No running in camp 10.No Yelling at the Camp Director or Program Director 11.Have FUN and create a memory!!!!!

12 Day in the Life of… 1.Arrive wearing camp shirt. 2.Get Walk Around Leader bag and find designated location. 3.Take role and turn in to registrar. 4.Participate with and watch over boys during opening. 5.Line up for flag ceremony and opening. 6.Escort boys around the camp. Keep the peace. Help them have fun. Sing a song or two. Play a game. Keep them safe. Keep them hydrated. 7.Have fun yourself. 8.Gather for closing. 9.Head home. 10.Collapse
