None KIWANIS EDUCATION SPOT On June 3 rd, Butch Shadwell (Consultant in Applied Physics and Electronics), returned from a special meeting at the National Academy of Sciences in Washington DC. He was among a small group of scientists and engineers from around the world invited to participate in a United Nations program called the Humanitarian Technology Challenge. The objective of this program is to identify and/or develop new technologies that may be efficiently used to alleviate human suffering in the world. Butch was elected the international chair for the Reliable Energy Challenge team by those scientists attending. JaxCERT is a group of citizens organized and trained to recognize, respond, and recover from major emergency or disaster situations. JaxCERT offers Duval County residents free training in a series of 8 classroom courses. Everyone has some connection with cancer, and together we can make a huge difference in the world and help those with cancer survive as well as teach others about how critical it is. Butch Shadwell Young Children: Priority One (YCPO) is an ongoing service program of Kiwanis International, addressing the needs of young children. Kiwanis clubs are encouraged to carry out at least two YCPO projects per calendar year, though many clubs are able to do more—helping children, families, and communities with critical issues affecting youth.
