Happy Birthday! Lal Ramdeen 3/6 Jerry Richey 3/7 Happy Anniversary! Howard and Hazel Brown 3/10 Community Presbyterian Church, Atlantic Beach Seven of our members attended the February 26th Annual Florida District Governor's visit to Division 5 at the Royal Saint Augustine Golf and Country Club. The Beaches Club delegation shared a delicious buffet and fellowship with 64 attendees from all 8 clubs in Division 5; and we all especially benefited from the inspirational talk given by our Florida District Governor Dave Liddell. This also was our quarterly DCM, (Division Council Meeting) and it counted as our monthly Interclub. The Beaches Club attendees were Al Russ, Jay Ambler, Doris Barnes, Dick Brand, Jim Lee, Debbie Johnson, and Bill Montgomery. Those who didn't make it, missed a most enjoyable Kiwanis event. Bill Montgomery Our club had to provide our own American flag, flagstaff and stand for our meeting's opening ceremonies--so a set was donated last week. The flag is not ragged; it is clean, but it is a little dingy, slightly faded, but it certainly is adequate. So if anyone wants to donate another 3 feet X 5 feet only flag, new or little used, it will be welcome. (The donor of the original flag will not be offended.) Just bring it to a club meeting, and see Bill Montgomery. SCHOLARSHIP PANCAKE BREAKFAST Set up 7am, Serve at 9am *******VOLUNTEERS NEEDED******* Sign up list: See Butch Shadwell DOES ANYONE WANT TO DONATE A NEW AMERICAN FLAG? Prayer Volunteer List: Doris Barnes, Dick Brand, Dan Corritore, Beryl Dryden, Debbie Johnson, Carl Krouch, Hugh Patterson, Walt Pfeil, Paula Powell, Al Russ, Butch Shadwell, Bill Montgomery Committee Meetings Walt Pfeil telling his weekly joke. A GREAT GOVERNOR'S VISIT /DCM/ INTERCLUB Despite the lack of volunteers and over 50 applications from Fletcher students, the only 3 volunteers (Butch, Charlie Bender and I) processed the 50 applications Friday morning. We also had the help of Bev Shadwell who graciously spent hours the night before organizing the materials from Fletcher we use in the analysis. We found many worthy students, and selected three who will receive this year's three Kiwanis Scholarships at our breakfast honoring their parents Friday morning. But we need your help to make breakfast! At Thursday's meeting we were very short of volunteers for the awards process and then breakfast cooking. Please let me know (and copy Butch) if you can help, even for an hour. We need set up help, cooks, and a clean-up crew at the Presbyterian Church on Sherry Drive at 7 AM this Friday. This is a very good event for us and will be covered by the Leader. Please help us make this a success and help us project the image our many good deeds for the community deserve. Thanks, James Lee English IS the official language of Kiwanis International.
