5 Basic Body Positions

6 QUARTER TURN PROFILE Actors who share a scene equally may turn a quarter turn towards each other. When a scene becomes intense actors may turn in profile to each other, to heighten their interaction.

7 Actors may turn their FULL BACK to the audience when the director specifically calls for it. This is usually done to draw attention to an important event happening on stage.

8 AREAS OF THE STAGE

9 CROSS COUNTER CROSS How do you stay open to the audience while making a cross onstage? If you are moving left.. Lead with your left foot and cheat out. If you are moving right.. Lead with your right foot and cheat out. Counter cross if necessary.

10 BOWS “Humble Bow” – only the head moves in a slight downward nod
“Genteel Bow” – actor/actress bends from the waist and drops head down “Curtsey” – for leading lady characters, cross one foot behind the other and bend legs
