2 A film has  Setting  Characters and  Plot

3 Setting  The setting is the time and place where the story takes place.  The story of the “Titanic” took place in 1912. The ship was scheduled to sail across the Atlantic for New York.

4 Characters  They are the people or imaginary figures in the story.  They can be good or bad, clever or stupid.  The main character is the protagonist.  In “Titanic”, Jack and Rose are the main characters.

5 Can you guess my role in this movie?

6 Plot  The plot is the events of the story.  The characters’ motives and behavior create the plot.

7 What is the plot of the Titanic?

8 When you talk about a film, you can think about  What type of film it is  What do you feel while watching it and  What message it conveys.

9 Here is a checklist of things you might consider when talking about a film:  Plot  Setting  Characters  Theme  Directing  Special effects  Camera work  Lighting effect  Sound and Music

10 A film has actors and actresses who may even be stars

11 A film has both sound and music.

12 Special Effects  Visual effects are also important to a film.

13 Shipwreck of the “Titanic” or the “Unsinkable”.

21 Work in small group of four.  One of you will express opinion about a film.  The others will agree or disagree with the points raised,  Expressing their similar or different views.

22 Topics for discussion:  What do you think about the story?  What do you think about the acting?  Does the film give any message?  Would you recommend this film to your friends?
