2 AIAA Task Force on Earth Observations AIAA 2009-13 strategic plan approved in January 2009 · Identifies 3 Strategic Imperatives · Advance technologies to monitor and reduce environmental impacts; provide venues and programs around key advancements needed to measure global climate change · Other two imperatives focus on workforce and aerospace energy efficiency Impacts across the Institute · Tech Activities- no less than two new technical forums in strategic areas Agenda Item 2c

3 AIAA Task Force on Earth Observations Impacts across the Institute (cont.) · Public Policy- at least 10 annual policy events; majority focused on imperatives Recent and upcoming EO-related events · Climate Change Data Calibration (21 SEP) · Global pace Development Summit (12-13 NOV) co-organized with CSIS, CSA, and SF. · Infotech@Aerospace (20-22 APR)- Hyperspectral Processing/Analysis sessions · Inside Aerospace (11-12 MAY) Agenda Item 2c

4 AIAA Task Force on Earth Observations Task Force met on 12 DEC · Agreed in principle to a draft AIAA Information Paper. · Paper was submitted for approval through the executive review. · Is being released this week.  Includes a blast fax to Capitol Hill. Agenda Item 2c

Proposed Dates for Summer meeting- · 25-28 July in conjunction with the Joint Propulsion Conference · 31 August – 2 September with Space 2010 Agenda Item 7
