Vision and Mission Some Statements A reminder
21
Mission Statement 1 This school is for all conditions and classes of men and women without regard to colour, nationality, race or religion. A man or woman; white, black or yellow; Christian, Jew, Muslim or heathen, may enter and enjoy all the advantages of this institution for three, four or eight years; and go out believing in one God, or in many Gods, or in no God. But it will be impossible for any one to continue with us long without knowing what we believe to be the truth and our reasons for that belief.
22
Mission Statement 2 As an institution of the Lebanese Evangelical Society we aim to maintain an educational institution which will have a special emphasis on moral and spiritual values, and which will be a centre of working Christian Fellowship and witness. The development of the whole of the child's personality is our aim. Therefore, we strive to provide opportunities for learning through shared experiences, to enable the student to learn, develop and recognise the resources within themselves to know how to deal with the pressures of today's society and make a constructive contribution to it.
23
Mission Statement 3 LESB&G has always tried to provide a secure environment for students with a wide range of academic ability. Within this general framework we endeavour to encourage those who find lessons difficult and, at the same time, to challenge those who find academic work easy. As far as possible we resist the temptation to 'drop' students for academic or disciplinary reasons, unless it becomes clear that a change of school might benefit them.
24

As we close : Why we do it!
82
The best job on earth
83
Because we want kids to LEARN Community of learners Because kids are GREAT (!) LOVE when they do something great
84
Most important? Levelled reading!!!!!!!!!!
85
So strong is the link between literacy and being a useful member of society that some states use grade-level reading statistics as a factor in projecting future prison construction. Bob Chase.
86
As a team NOT In a team
87
Becky’s Story : G+ Every Friday afternoon Chase’s teacher asks her students to take out a piece of paper and write down the names of four children with whom they’d like to sit the following week… Who is not getting requested by anyone else? Who doesn’t even know who to request? Who never gets noticed enough to be nominated? Who had a million friends last week and none this week? You see, Chase’s teacher is not looking for a new seating chart or “exceptional citizens.” Chase’s teacher is looking for lonely children. This brilliant woman watched Columbine knowing that ALL VIOLENCE BEGINS WITH DISCONNECTION. All outward violence begins as inner loneliness. She watched that tragedy KNOWING that children who aren’t being noticed will eventually resort to being noticed by any means necessary.
88
TEACH ON, WARRIORS. You are the first responders, the front line, the disconnection detectives, and the best and ONLY hope we’ve got for a better world. What you do in those classrooms when no one is watching - it’s our best hope.
89
If it falls to your lot to be a teacher, teach like Michelangelo painted pictures, teach like Beethoven composed music... teach like Shakespeare wrote poetry. Teach so well that all the host of heaven and earth will have to pause and say: Here lived a great teacher who did his job well.” After Martin Luther King
