3 Microorganisms need three things to multiply or grow: 1. warmth 2. food source 3. water

4 To control microorganisms in the foods we eat you must be attentive to the following areas.

5 Point 1: Personal Hygiene Use good personal hygiene.

6 Point # 2: Store and Handle Food Correctly  Store and cook food at proper temperatures to avoid the growth of microorganisms.  Avoid having food in the “Danger Zone” (40-140degrees) (40-140degrees)  Keep hot foods HOT and cold foods COLD!  Put groceries away immediately

7 Point # 3: Facilities & Equipment  Keep all your equipment clean.  Keep your kitchen clean.

8 Remember…. Poor sanitation leads to the spread and ingestion of harmful microorganisms which can make us ill or even kill.
