3 Define a Problem It seems no matter where you are trying to work you have to constantly move items around the desktop or to another surface to make room for your work. Create an attachment method that you can attach any type of holder. It could be a cell phone, and I-POD, even a cup of water. You can not use any hook and loops, adhesives or magnets. Your base must be able to hold paper, paper clips and pens/pencils.

7 Research and Generate Ideas Different types of Organizers Colors, sizes, shapes, etc. Look for different types of attachments and methods for attaching them.

9 Identify Criteria and Specify Constraints Design a desktop organizer. Base organizer must hold (8 ½ x 11) paper, pencils and paperclips. Must have a connection method that will allow parts to be shared. Must hold at least 5 optional parts.
