2. Cell Membrane Both plant and animal cells It regulates what comes in and goes out of the cell. It is the body guard of the cell Like the skin on a piece of fruit, your skin, a door, a window, a security guard, a gate, a shield.

3. Cell Wall Only in plant cells Gives the cell shape and support Bones, cup, container, walls in a building, frame, hairspray

4. Golgi Bodies/Apparatus Both plant and animal cells Assembles, releases, stores chemicals, and packages Computer, mind, post office, mail, book, freezer, classroom

5. Chloroplasts Only in plant cells Store chlorophyll. Chlorophyll traps sunlight to help plants make food in a process known as photosynthesis. Spider web, solar panel, hunter captures animal to use for food, greenhouse

6. Mitochondria (Mitochondrion) Found in plant and animal cells. Produces energy for the cell. The cell’s powerhouse. Releases energy. Batteries, sun, Georgia Power

8. Endoplasmic Reticulum (ER) Both plant and animal cells. A system of tubes where materials are created and moved around the cell. Highway, roads, train, digestive system

9. Lysosomes Both plant and animal cells. Gobbles up the waste of the cell. Vulture, garbage disposal, vacuum cleaner.

10. Vacuole Both plant and animal cells. (Larger in a plant cell) Storage of materials such as food and water. Bladder, water balloon, water jug, water tower

11. Chromosomes Both plant and animal cells. Contains hereditary material known as DNA which carries the codes that direct cell activity. Telephone signals, email

12. Nucleus Both plant and animal cells Controls the activity of the cell and carries chromosomes. Control center, the brain, Washington, DC or Atlanta, GA

13. Nuclear Membrane Both plant and animal cells. It controls what goes in and out of the nucleus Border, gate, security guard, mouth
