They are spread by Infected discs E-mail Internet Organisations should instal and regularly update anti-virus software. This scans files and disinfects them if viruses are found. In Oban High we us SOPHOS.

Click to return to Sum up page BACK-UP PROCEDURE Computer data should be backed up regularly in case information is lost, damaged or accidentally deleted Computer crashes Theft of computer (and data with it) Accidental deletion (by untrained staff) Hackers (may deliberately delete data) Fraud (employees may deliberately edit or delete data) Viruses A back-up copy of our whole network is made every night in Oban High School. These items should be… Labelled Handled with care Stored in cases Removed if not in use Stored away from direct sunlight.

Organisations holding such data must comply with the Data Protection Act. The data user (organisation holding the data) must register with the Data Protection Registrar. The act states that data subjects have the right to see information which is held on them. The law has 8 main principles …
