3 VISION To promote a culture of scientific research among young people in the age group from grade 6 to 12 in Egypt

4 MISSION Increase the number of students participating in the International Exhibition of Science and Engineering. Raise the quality of research done by the students. Participation of all the governorates of Egypt in the local contest for Science and Engineering. Achieve the principle of community participation in supporting scientific research in Egypt.

5 GOALS Long-term goals Spreading the culture of science and scientific thinking at the level of public and private schools Special recognition by the MOE for the scientifically talented students and including the research among the students’ evaluation. Style of thinking and the integration of scientific research within the education curriculum

6 GOALS Short-term goals Encouraging community awareness of the International Science and Engineering Fair.  We are going to announce ISEF Egypt in Shopping Malls, Clubs and community centers. The establishment of centers specialized support to support projects and scientific research for students.  We agreed with MOE to select 10 centers of Suzan Mubarak Science Centers to work as local support centers. There will be a training for at least 3 teachers from each governorate in Egypt. Those Teachers will give all required support locally. Link between students and authorities in support of scientific research.  RDI program and Academy of Scientific Research of Egypt will support student research and projects. Endorse ISEF Teachers’ Guide among our trainings to improve research methodology.  ISEF Teachers’ Guide was translated to Arabic and will be distributed to all teachers who will be attending the training.

7 GOALS Short-term goals Find sponsors for scientific research in Egypt.  A sponsorship document was redesigned to include all updates and more benefits to encourage more sponsors. Developing a trustworthy judging committee to ensure selection of distinctive projects participating in ISEF.  Working on building a judges Database from all over Egypt. Invitation to join judging committee will be sent to Egyptian universities. Capitalize on Intel learn program success in Egypt to raise the research capabilities for students.  ISEF Egypt is announced during the last session in any Intel learn Training.

8 IMPLEMENTATION STRATEGY Adequate publicity in all media about the need to create a generation of creators.  All media will be invited to the announcement conference that will be held next week. Coordination with centers of science and scientific research to support students and provide a scientific laboratories required to conduct research and experiments.  This will be done through Suzan Mubarak Centers and Science clubs inside universities. Address the specialized bodies in scientific research to help support the students.  Work in progress.

9 IMPLEMENTATION STRATEGY To publish the science curriculum for middle schools, which was designed for implementation within the clubs, science centers and exploratory research. Address the major companies and business and private universities to provide material support for the process of scientific research and care for science fairs. Recruiting judges who are experts in research area and are enthusiastic to volunteer in this competition

10 IMPLEMENTATION STRATEGY Announced special awards for teachers of science and mathematics who carry out scientific research method for students. And within the competition is held annually to reward teachers for excellence in Intel's education.

11 SOLUTIONS TO SOME OF THE CHALLENGES EXPECTED Challenges: Lack of resources: Labs, Overloaded Teachers, Students lack of interest in science and math Solutions: Incentive programs for teachers and students by the MOE Partnering with universities and research institutes to avail research tools (done with RDI and Some Scientific Clubs in the Universities) Launching competitions for both teachers and students. (Student Competition was announced)

12 SOLUTIONS TO SOME OF THE CHALLENGES EXPECTED Challenges: may not understand the parents need their children to follow the scientific approach to the curriculum Solutions: making prints will be distributed to students to be delivered to parents. (Parents flyer was initially designed in Arabic and will be ready for print soon)

13 SOLUTIONS TO SOME OF THE CHALLENGES EXPECTED Challenges: the lack of sufficient time in schools to teach scientific research Solutions: the use of centers of science and scientific research in the spread of the science curriculum as well as in clubs of technology. (We agreed on this with MOE)

14 SOLUTIONS TO SOME OF THE CHALLENGES EXPECTED Challenges: Students may not be enthusiastic about the idea of a study of scientific research as well as studies of school curricula Solutions: done tours by students who participated in the ISEF to the provinces. To arouse enthusiasm of the students to participate in science fairs and the search for scientific solutions to problems. Even raise the enthusiasm of the students participate in science fairs and the search for scientific solutions to problems..

SAS - Bibliotheca Alexandrina June – JulyFinishing agreements with MOE Linking degree of scientific excellence with student projects and integrate the project with the project quality in the schools and students do scientific research projects through a portfolio of student work. Partners was changed to be SAS and Bibliotheca Alexandrina. Started in September – October.

Qualified 60 teachers and MTs are 12. Each one the 12 MTs + 6 STs will train 360 PTs. Qualified 180 and 36 MTs. 36 will train 720 PTs. Q = 360 MT = 72. 72 will train 1440 PTS. Q = 720. Total = 1320 teachers. November – December 2010 Starting by 90 Teachers, we will get 20 Qualified teachers as MTs and 30 PTs. 30 MTs + 6 STs = 36. Each one will train 70 Teachers. Total Trained teachers 2520 We expect to have 1400 Qualified teachers as PTs November – December 2010 Starting by 90 Teachers, we will get 20 Qualified teachers as MTs and 30 PTs. 30 MTs + 6 STs = 36.
