2  Workplace Communication Issues  Liberty Associates Inc. Problems  Improved Communication Amid Employees  Conclusion

3  Liberty Associates Inc. is an agency that has been contracted by the United States military government to run and operate the eating facilities “Mess Halls”,in West Texas military bases.  8 eating facilities operated by civilian 300 + workers employed by Liberty Associates Inc. Serves over 30,000 meals a day.

4 Communication deficiencies at all employee levels within Liberty Associates Inc.  Interferes with Supplies, Staffing, and Wages.  Affects all employees under Liberty Associates Inc., but most significantly soldiers that eat at the facilities.

5  Food and Supply Shortages  Failure to communicate shortages.  Improper distribution of supplies  “trading and sharing of supplies between eating facilities.”  Utensil and Cleaning Supply Shortages.  Supply shortages mean that Liberty Associates Inc. has difficulty providing minimal or occasionally no amounts of food for soldiers.

6  Staffing shortages trigger delays for soldiers.  Inadequate amount of chefs and servers to handle quantity of soldiers.  Soldiers become tardy to next report or possibly miss meal altogether.  No communication regarding forecasting.  Supervisors fail to announce forecasted attendance of soldiers to management.  Managers misinform employees about hours.

7  Supervisors irresponsibility calculating employee wages.  Need more awareness from upper level management.  Poor tracking of Time Cards.  Inadequate pay for employees working overtime.  Employees being shuffled lose hour logs.  “Floater” employees forced to be shared among organization and wind up losing hours between the confusion.

8 Certain individuals within the organization don’t grasp Liberty Associates Inc. problems.  “Floater” employees, and supervisors are not there regularly and therefore do not witness prolonged problems.  Select employees complete their jobs and clock out failing to report numerous problems.  Mishandling of these problems could be easily solved with more employee involvement.

9  Communication  - Company unity and employee management reconnection can be gained through many means. Some of these means include: Company BBQs, Company Bowling.  -Staff evaluations are needed more frequently of all levels within this company. There must be effective documentation to solve this issue.  Inventory  -Possibly consider other methods of inventory control.(Computer software, inventory barcode technology)  -Possibly consider hiring a inventory consulting agency

10  Hiring  the United States Small Business Administration gives key steps and necessary practices to follow in hiring a qualified applicant.  Compliance with State and Local Law  The Fair Labor Standards Act ensure many employee rights. This company must comply with federal law.  Employees must be made aware of their right to file formal complaints.

11  Better communication amongst all levels.  All levels (employee, manager, supervisor) must learn to better communicate with each other. More Communication on Shortage!! More Communication on Staffing!! More Communication on Wages!!

12  Communication is key to ensuring soldiers are taken care of while at the facilities ran by Liberty Associates Inc.  Superior communication ensures better operations along with happier customers and employees.  More communication equates healthier assurance of continued business between the Military Government and Liberty Associates Inc.
