2 Happy Anniversary! Dan & Tillie Kuchta 2/14/48 Heavenly Father, Teach us to set aside our wants for this day and make it a better day for someone else. Teach us that the secret of happiness is not in doing what we like, but in liking what we do. And now bless this food to our use and us to Your service. Amen Make a difference. Change the world one child and one community at a time. From: “Invocations for Kiwanis Occasions” by James J. Mr. Thames has an extensive book collection regarding the Lewis and Clark expedition which he intends to donate to the Lewis and Clark Library. The books will be housed in their special collections section. The library's curator will come to Jacksonville to pack the books and get them ready for shipment back west to the library. Lee Thames and friend Bill Turner Doris Barnes introduced our speaker. Steven Downing - This is the Selva Marina employee who faithfully served us each week when we dined there. Bill Montgomery and Dick Brand were both instrumental in working through the details of the club's move from Selva Marina to Windsor Parke Walt Pfeil telling his weekly joke Club members listening to Mr. Thames during our last luncheon at Selva Marina. All four officers are seen making their Valentine's Day/Get Well cards. From left to right are the club's treasurer, secretary, president and vice-president. K Kids meeting at Mayport Elementary John Bates and I had a great time helping the students make Valentine's Day/Get Well cards. We will deliver the cards they made to Wolfson Children's Hospital sometime next week, in time for Valentine's Day. Please notify Jim Lee and Bev Shadwell as soon as you obtain a speaker or speakers for your month. Jim will notify the Times Union and other local papers. The papers have requested that they be notified by the 13th of each month for the following month’s schedule. Thanks again, Doris 891-4950 Photos by Debbie Johnson K-Kids is a Kiwanis-sponsored service club for students in elementary schools. Each K-Kids club is a local project of its sponsoring Kiwanis club, and there is no district or International K-Kids structure. The K-Kids program was officially adopted by Kiwanis International in 1998. FOCUS ON MEMBERSHIP With our new move to Windsor Park this is a new opportunity to help Neil and the membership committee by bringing a new potential member to a meeting in February. So I am asking each of you to contact a business in the Hodges/Butler area, where Jacksonville's highest concentration of businesses lies, to see if you can get them to send us just one potential member. If you can do this, we can easily double our membership this year. James Lee
