1 E-twinning: Literacy Project For 5-7 year olds Founders : Pamela Spiteri (De La Salle College, Malta) Christel Leroux (Ecole maternelle Charles Perrault, France) TELL ME ABOUT IT !

2 Project Main Idea

3 Learning Aims Promote literacy skills Promote a love for reading and books Enhance creative thinking skills Integrate digital software such as e-mail, power point and videos to enhance literacy skills Enhance speaking, listening, reading and writing skills through relavant meaningful experience and pupil exchange Make use of story-telling and shared reading activities in a fun and creative way to motivate all pupils to master their English Language skills for commincation purposes

4 Project Time-Line November: Having a simple video presentation of the pupils introducing themselves (listening and speaking). December : Getting the boys to read a book or choose their favourite story and write some simple sentences about it. These shall than be included in a power point and shared among our respective pupils. (reading and writing) February : What I love to do - Every boy prepares a slide or two with pictures of what they love to do and sentences about each photo. (writing, creative thinking) March : We (teachers) present our own book with our own original story through a power point presentation. The pupils shall than review the story and we shall record the pupils saying what they liked about the story. Recordings are than shared. (Shared reading and speaking) April/May : Communicate through Skype (speaking and listening) June : The boys write their own short story presented in power point form. This could be presented as a gift of the end of year project. The stories created by the boys can be printed out as a big book or printed out as single books and be kept in the class library for future reference. (creative reading, thinking and writing)

5 Project Time-Line Guests Different guests shall be invited throughout the project for shared-reading Dates of visits shall be according to the guests availabity Pupils prepare questions to ask to guests to promote thinking skills This activity has the main aim to promote shared-reading and a love for books

6 Expected results Promote new literacy practices in our schools and embark on future projects. By the end of the project the pupils that participate in this project will be able to think of their own story and be motivated to create it and share it with the other participants. Pupils will be able to listen, speak, write and read more fluently in English. Pupils will be able to read and enjoy simple stories in English.
