She Walks With Beauty By: George Gordon/Lord Byron LAURA PITTS
3
Introduction She Walks With Beauty was written by George Gordon also known as Lord Byron in the early 19 th century during the Romanticism Period. The poem is about when a man first lays his eyes on someone attractive and the first impression they get just from looks.
4
Theme Our first impression can be altered by someone's physical appearance.
5
Essay For my essay, I would organize it by structure and by the imagery that is used throughout the poem. For example, I would start off with how he begins his poem talking about the contrast between light and dark and then goes into talking about the way she walks. He then ends with the last stanza talking about her physical appearance.
6
Thesis Through the use of imagery and the structure of the poem, the poet is able to reinforce how our first impressions of people can alter what we think about them compared to how they actually are.
7
Topic Sentence 1 Through imagery the author is able to reveal how he thinks about the women he has just seen based on only what her physical appearance is.
8
Topic Sentence 2 By the structure of the poem the poet is able to reinforce that he has never met or spoken to the women that he is writing about, but is only basing how he feels towards her off of his first impression.
