2 Environmental Council of the States (ECOS) Established in 1995 Members are the senior environmental officials in the states Champion the roles of states in environmental protection Provide a network to exchange information and experience www.ecos.org

3 Interstate Technology and Regulatory Council (ITRC) A program under ERIS - - the research and educational arm of ECOS A partnership of state, federal, industry, and stakeholder interests Creates documents, training, and an expert network for technology innovation and acceptance www.itrcweb.org

4 ITRC Profile In 1995 - - Western Governor’s Assn “Do it” project Expanded regionally and then nationally through ECOS Now 43 states Over 50 consensus documents 35 Internet training sessions on 17 topics (in 2004) 10 classroom courses for 563 students (in 2004) Nearly 20,000 trained since 1999 575 members in 2005
