For Salt Lake Community College students who own a car, is the price for their car related to their GPA?

 Sampling Method: Simple Random  Strata: Jordan, Taylorsville and South City Campuses ◦ 50 samples from each campus.  Price of car recorded as price paid when purchased and current GPA was used.

Well over half of the students had cars in the < $20,000 range Only a very small number had cars costing over $30,000

As you can see the box plot is skewed heavily to the right, due to the high number of relatively moderate priced vehicles in conjunction with a few in the higher price range.

The mean price of a car was $12,523 while the range was over $50,000

The ranges with the most students were 3.0-3.24 3.5-3.74 The majority were over 3.0.

This box plot is skewed to the left due to infrequency of students with a low GPA

The mean GPA was 3.36, and ranged from 2.0 to 4.0

The bar series represents the Avg. Car Price of students with the specified GPA The line series represents the number of samples collected for the GPA The error bars represents the standard deviation of Car Prices across all sample GPAs

Each plot point on the graph represents a survey sample Samples are distributed by the Car Price on the Y-axis and the GPA on the X-axis

Our study was unable to find any correlation between the GPA and price of vehicle for Salt Lake City Community College students and concludes that the two variables appear to be unrelated RESULTS
