7 Parts of the Eye 1.Sclera – maintains eye shape and point of muscle attachment 2.Choroid – pigmented black to prevent reflection & has network of blood vessels 3.Retina – contains photoreceptors (Rods & Cones) 4.Tapetum – reflects light back over the retina for night vision 5.Cornea – protective cover and refractive source 6.Iris – controls the amount of light entering the eye 7.Pupil – hole in the iris 8.Lens – flexible transparent structure that refracts light 9.Aqueous Humour – maintains shape of anterior of eye 10.Vitreous Humour – maintains shape of posterior of eye 11.Optic Nerve – transmission of neuro messages to the the brain 12.Blind Spot – point of attachment of optic nerve – no light receptors here 13.Fovea – contains only cone cells for good visual acuity - center of Macula 14.Macula – larger area of cone cells around the Fovea
