WHAT IS BULLYING ? BULLYING IS UNWANTED, AGGRESSIVE BEHAVIOR AMONG SCHOOL AGED CHILDREN THAT INVOLVES A REAL OR PERCEIVED POWER IMBALANCE. a. THE BEHAVIOR IS REPEATED, OR HAS THE POTENTIAL TO BE REPEATED. BULLYING INCLUDES MAKING THREATS, SPREADING RUMORS, ATTACKING SOMEONE PHYSICALLY OR VERBALLY AND EXCLUDING SOMEONE FROM A GROUP ON PURPOSE. b. BULLYING WOULD NOT EXIST WITHOUT 3 ROLES: BULLY, VICTIM, BYSTANDER.

THE ROLE OF THE BULLY YOU MAY FEEL PRESSURE TO BULLY OTHERS IF YOUR FRIENDS ARE DOING IT. YOU MAY THINK YOU WILL NOT BE POPULAR OR YOU MAY BE BULLIED IF YOU DON’T PARTICIPATE. YOU MAY THINK YOU ARE JUST JOKING BUT WORDS AND ACTIONS CAN HURT SOMEONE’S FEELINGS. TEENS WHO BULLY ARE MORE LIKELY TO HAVE POOR GRADES, DROP OUT OF SCHOOL, USE DRUGS OR COMMIT CRIMES.

THE ROLE OF THE VICTIM KNOW THAT IT IS NOT YOUR FAULT FOR SOMEONE ELSE'S ACTIONS. YOU MAY NOT WANT TO ATTEND SCHOOL OR YOU MAY FIND IT HARD TO DO YOUR HOMEWORK. YOU MAY EXPERIENCE THE FOLLOWING ACTIONS: LOSE SLEEP EATING MORE OR LESS THAN USUAL HAVING HEADACHES OR STOMACH ACHES GETTING SICK MORE OFTEN

THE ROLE OF THE BYSTANDER o TAKE A STAND AND DO NOT JOIN IN. MAKE IT CLEAR THE THAT YOU DO NOT SUPPORT BULLYING. o HAVE THE POWER TO STOP IT BECAUSE EVERYONE HAS THE RIGHT TO FEEL SAFE IN THEIR SCHOOL OR COMMUNITY. o TALK TO AN ADULT YOU TRUST. TELLING SOMEONE CAN HELP YOU FIGURE OUT THE BEST WAY TO DEAL WITH THE PROBLEM. o WORK TO STOP BULLYING AS IT IS LESS LIKELY TO OCCUR WHEN THERE ARE STRONG MESSAGES AGAINST IT.

CYBERBULLYING CYBERBULLYING TAKES PLACE USING ELECTRONIC TECHNOLOGY SUCH AS CELLPHONES, COMPUTERS AND TABLETS. Be smart while online and texting by: a.Always think about what you post or say. b.Set privacy setting on your accounts. c.Block the person who is cyberbullying you. d.Report the incident to the school. e.Ask for help.
