14. ???? ER or RE ???? Theater = the building that the performance is in or the American way to spell it. Theatre is the art of or the European way to spell it.

16. II. When does theatre happen?

17. When two groups come together When actor and audience come together at a certain time and a certain place. This does not always have to happen on a stage.

18. III. Different types of theaters

19. Proscenium Stage Proscenium stage or picture frame stage – audience seating is in front of the stage where the audience watches through the imaginary fourth wall. This is the kind of theatre we have at IHS.

20. Thrust Stage Thrust Stage – the stage is pushed out into the audience. The audience seating will be on three sides. Shakespeare's globe theater is a thrust.

21. Arena Stage The Arena Stage or theater in the round – theater in which the audience seats all around the stage. Rock concerts, wrestling, football games, etc.

22. Black Box Theater The Black Box Theater – theater that is inside a large room which is painted black. The sets, stage, seats can be placed in any configuration desired by the director.
